Box Components

Box Components (Box Bicycle Components) is an American component maker founded in 2012 by former BMX and downhill pro Toby 'Hollywood' Henderson in Southern California. Steeped in the abuse tolerance demanded by BMX racing, Box built its name on oversized, forged, do-not-break hardware before turning the drivetrain world on its head with Prime 9. Prime 9 is a deliberately contrarian, wide-range 1x9 mountain-bike groupset. While the rest of the industry chased ever more sprockets - 11, then 12, then 13 speeds - Box bet the other way: nine gears, but stronger, cheaper and more durable, with wider tooth spacing that indexes crisply under load and shrugs off mud, rock strikes and neglect. The reasoning is simple - real trail riders rarely miss the extra in-between ratios, while a 9-speed chain and cassette are burlier and far less fragile than a 12-speed equivalent, and cost a fraction to replace. Built around an 11-50T HG-freehub cassette, a Tri-Pack clutch derailleur and a multi-shift trigger, Prime 9 delivers Eagle-class 455% range with old-school toughness and a price the working rider can actually afford.
