French toe-clip marque born in the wake of Eugène Christophe, 'Le Vieux Gaulois', the first-ever wearer of the yellow jersey in 1919 and a toe-clip pioneer. In 1925 manufacturing passed to Poutrait-Morin (later Zéfal), which has produced these chromed-steel clips continuously, equipping the whole peloton for over half a century. The 496 is one of the longest-running toe-clip designs in cycling history.
