CLB
CLB was a French maker of bicycle brakes, brake levers, cables and chainguards based in Saint-Etienne, historically operating as Angénieux CLB and reportedly founded around 1931 by Charles Lauzier Bourgoin. Through the 1960s and 1970s CLB was, with Mafac, one of France's two dominant brake makers, prized for exceptionally light alloy calipers and a distinctive quick-release. Its flagship Professionnel racing brakes were used by top riders and favoured on lightweight builds for their finish and low weight. Having lost ground to Asian competition in the 1980s, CLB was absorbed into the Sachs group and the name disappeared by the end of the decade.
