OPEN
OPEN Cycle is a Swiss bicycle manufacturer based in Basel, founded in January 2012 by Andy Kessler, previously head of BMC Switzerland, and Gerard Vroomen, co-founder of Cervélo. The company keeps a deliberately small structure and designs carbon framesets sold mainly direct to customers. Its first model was the O-1.0 hardtail mountain bike; the U.P. (Unbeaten Path), launched in 2015 with clearance for both 700c and 650b tyres, is regarded as an influential design in the emergence of the modern gravel bike and was later joined by the wider WI.DE and the MIN.D road frame.
