BB5 Road

The BB5 Road is the short-pull version of Avid's BB5 mechanical disc caliper, announced as new in 2007: where the mountain BB5 is built for the long pull of flat-bar levers, this one is designed for road levers and is therefore operated from the hoods. The mechanism is the usual BB family ball-and-ramp design, with the Tri-Align spherical caliper positioning system and a single inboard pad adjustment knob, the outboard pad staying fixed, unlike the BB7 with its two knobs. Avid quoted 335 g with a 160 mm rotor and a front post mount bracket. SRAM still lists it under model ID DB-BLBG-5R-A1, with post mount and International Standard brackets.
