In 2011, Bosch entered the e-bike market with its very first mid-motor, the Classic Line (Gen 1, BES1 platform). With around 50 Nm of torque, 250 W and assistance up to 25 km/h, this mid-drive was a revolution: its three-sensor technology (torque, speed, cadence), measured several times per second, ushered in the comfort of modern mid-drives. Fitted to the first Haibike and Moustache models, it laid the foundations of the mid-motor eMTB market.
