Nuovo Sport
Brand: Campagnolo
Campagnolo Nuovo Sport rear derailleur (reference 2230), a steel entry-level model introduced around 1967 (approximate years). It is the second generation of Campagnolo's single-pulley derailleurs: based on the parallelogram of the first Valentino, with a lone-pulley cage shaped like a shuriken. That choice, meant to cut perceived friction losses, in fact sacrificed shifting quality. Designed for narrow-range freewheels (16 to 22 tooth sprockets), friction-shifted. Not to be confused with “Nuovo Tipo”, a name often wrongly quoted for this derailleur: the Nuovo Tipo (ref. 1253, 1967-1981) is in fact a Campagnolo hub, not a derailleur.
