Criterium Seta
Brand: Clément
The Critérium Seta is one of the most mythical racing tires ever made: a hand-crafted Italian tubular whose casing was woven from spun silk — seta being the Italian word for silk. Produced by Clément from the 1970s until 1986, its supple silk carcass gave a ride quality and rolling feel that riders of the era considered unmatched, and for decades it was simply the reference tubular of the professional peloton; FMB founder François Marie recalled that forty years ago the reference of tubular tires was the Clément Seta Critérium. Glued to sprint and road wheels of champions and time trialists alike, the 250-gram 700x23 silk boyau remains a grail for collectors and a benchmark against which modern handmade tubulars are still judged.
