Oppy

Brand: Cyclo

The Cyclo Oppy, introduced in 1938, was a lighter, shorter version of the Standard for medium-ratio solo bicycles, adding an integral chain-tension spring and a mounting bracket canted slightly forward for a smoother cable run. Like the Standard it is worked by two cables with no spring 'normal' position. It was named after Sir Hubert Opperman, the Australian long-distance champion (winner of the 1931 Paris-Brest-Paris), an enthusiastic advocate of Cyclo's derailleurs; the outer plate is stamped 'CYCLO OPPY REG DESIGN'.
