EMX-5
Brand: Eddy Merckx
The second tier of Eddy Merckx's E carbon series, below the EMX-7, heavily reworked for the 2011 model year: a tapered 1"1/8 to 1"1/2 head tube, a BB86 bottom bracket and partly internal cable routing. The carbon moves from 46HM in 3K to 50HM/HS in 1K, laid up with the in-house CL+ and OSR processes. The Japanese importer quotes 1,450 g for frame and fork, in a stable geometry with slack head angles and a low bottom bracket. Eddy Merckx was then supplying the Quick-Step team, with Tom Boonen and Sylvain Chavanel.
