The Newton MTR is the rear-specific gravity mountain bike tire Goodyear launched in 2022 to pair with the front-specific Newton MTF, aimed at downhill, enduro and rowdy trail riding in intermediate to wet conditions. Its drive-focused tread is arranged to hold a line through loose off-camber sections and rocky chutes while keeping the transition from upright to leaning predictable. It comes in three casings, Trail with a 60 tpi carcass and Armor protection, Enduro with a 120 tpi two-ply carcass and Wall EN sidewalls, and Downhill with Wall DH sidewalls, using the Trail2 and Grip3 compounds. Sizes 27.5x2.4, 27.5x2.6 and 29x2.4, 970 to 1310 g.
