The BL-R550 is Shimano's 105-level flat-bar road brake lever, catalogued with the 105 5800 series. Unlike the BL-4700 and BL-R780 it has no mode switch: Shimano lists it as compatible with SUPER SLR calipers, cantilever brakes and road mechanical disc brakes only, so it stays on the short road cable pull and is not meant for V-brakes. It clamps to a 22.2 mm bar, has reach adjustment and a two-hand cable adjuster, and came in black and silver.
