SM-RT99

The SM-RT99 is Shimano's top-end Center Lock brake rotor, listed in the XTR/SAINT series of Shimano's specification manuals since the 2012-2013 edition and still present in the current manual. It combines the ICE TECHNOLOGIES stainless steel / aluminium / stainless steel sandwich braking track with a finned FREEZA aluminium carrier to shed heat. Shimano offers it in outer diameters of 140, 160, 180 and 203 mm, the 140 mm size being reserved for rear use on mountain bikes, and lists it as compatible with metal as well as resin pads. It is not a mountain-bike-only part: the road section of the 2020-2021 manual recommends the SM-RT99 as the rotor for the BR-RS785 road hydraulic caliper.
