The DU-E6000 launched the Shimano STEPS range in 2014, the brand's very first electric assistance system for the general public. Designed for city and trekking use, this compact, light mid-drive motor delivers around 50 Nm of torque. It laid the foundations of the STEPS ecosystem with smooth assistance up to 25 km/h and a well-integrated drivetrain. Discreet and reliable, it equips many urban and touring bikes of the mid-2010s. Its mid-motor architecture and electronic management foreshadow all the later STEPS generations.
