STEPS E8000 (DU-E8000)

The STEPS DU-E8000 is the mid-drive motor that founded electric mountain biking at Shimano, launched in 2016 as the brand's first drive unit dedicated to the eMTB. It delivers a maximum torque of 70 Nm for a nominal power of 250 W and weighs about 2.8 kg, with a torque sensor that modulates the assistance according to the rider's effort. Three assistance modes (Eco, Trail, Boost), the last reaching around 300 % of support, with a cut-off at 25 km/h. It pairs with the STEPS BT-E8010, BT-E8014 and BT-E8020 batteries and benefits from firmware updates via E-TUBE. A walk assist function makes technical sections easier to cover on foot.
