The WH-M9220 is Shimano beefiest full-carbon XTR wheelset, built for trail and enduro racing with serviceability in mind. Its 29-inch hookless carbon rim runs a wide 30mm internal bed with 4mm-thick beads for tubeless durability, optimised for 2.3 to 2.6 inch tires. The redesigned XTR hubs bring a 3.5-degree engagement Micro Spline freehub and, for the first time on XTR, easily serviceable stainless-steel cartridge bearings. Boost spacing (15x110mm front, 12x148mm rear) and 28 J-bend stainless spokes give a stiff, race-proven build at about 1791g the pair.
