DualDrive

Brand: SRAM

Hybrid SRAM drivetrain system heir to the Sachs-Torpedo know-how (SRAM bought Sachs in 1997): it combines a 3-speed internal gear hub (186% range, 36% steps, shiftable at a standstill) with a Shimano Hyperglide-compatible freehub body. Paired with an 8- or 9-speed cassette, it forms a 3x8 or 3x9 drivetrain offering 24 or 27 effective combinations, the equivalent of a triple chainring but without a front derailleur. The internal hub is operated by a small thumb lever (clickbox) while the rear derailleur is worked by a twist shifter. Aluminium shell, moderate weight. Offered in 3x7, then 3x8 and 3x9. Suited to mountain biking, touring and urban use. Approximate years 2000-2015.
