Spectro E12 (Sachs Elan)
Brand: SRAM
Twelve-speed planetary hub launched by Sachs in 1995 under the Elan name, the first production internal gear hub offered with more than seven speeds. SRAM took over Sachs's bicycle division in 1997 and sold the hub under the Spectro E12 name. Its 339% gear range was unmatched at the time, but the hub weighed 3.4 kg, was mechanically complex and suffered from enough reliability problems to be discontinued before 2000; it was catalogued under the part numbers MH 12010 without coaster brake and MH 12110 with.
