63

Brand: Stronglight

The Stronglight 63, catalogued as the 63 Super Competition, was introduced in 1963 as an evolution of the 57 Super Competition, at the top of the French manufacturer's racing range. It uses a star-shaped aluminium-alloy spider integrated into the right-hand crank, a 122 mm bolt circle and a square taper axle, the cranks being removed with the proprietary Stronglight puller with its 23.35 x 1 mm thread. VeloBase places production from 1963 into the 1970s, while Bike ReCyclery indicates that the model was replaced as a racing crankset by the 93 SC in 1968. The 63 was fitted both to high-end racing bikes and to randonneur machines from builders such as René Herse and Cinelli.
