The Trek Session is one of the most iconic downhill (DH) bikes in the sport, inseparable from its golden age in the World Cup: it was on this bike, within Trek World Racing, that Aaron Gwin took the 2011 and 2012 DH World Cup overall titles, including a legendary 2011 season with five wins in seven rounds — the first American title in history. Technically, the Session was built on Trek's in-house ABP kinematics (Active Braking Pivot, a pivot concentric with the rear axle that keeps the suspension active under braking, derived from the Split Pivot patent), before moving from 27.5" carbon to 29" and mullet. The current generation (unveiled in April 2021, 2022 model year) marks a "return to DH roots": Trek drops carbon for an Alpha Platinum aluminium frame with a high pivot and idler pulley (high pivot + idler), claiming its riders preferred the response of aluminium. 200 mm of travel front and rear, 157×12 rear axle, Mino Link flip-chip (geometry + 20%/25% progression): a pure downhill race machine.
