TR12 Rear Derailleur

Brand: TRP

The TR12 is a 12-speed mechanical rear derailleur that marked the brand's first serious move into the mountain bike drivetrain market when it launched in 2020. Sold initially as a G-Spec kit alongside its matching trigger shifter, it was developed under the scrutiny of John Hall, Intense Factory Racing's lead mechanic, and downhill World Cup legend Aaron Gwin. Hall focused the design on reducing chain slap and keeping the chain planted through rough, high-speed descents, giving the mech a genuine race-bred pedigree. The derailleur uses a carbon-fibre outer cage and upper link over a forged-aluminium inner cage, knuckle and parallelogram to keep weight to roughly 292g. Two features define it: the G-Spec ratcheting clutch, whose tension is adjustable via a pair of 2mm screws hidden behind the upper pulley, and the Hall Lock, a lever that clamps the B-knuckle solidly to the derailleur hanger to eliminate unwanted movement over impacts. It runs an 11-tooth upper and 15-tooth lower pulley and is designed around SRAM Eagle 12-speed cassettes up to a 50-tooth largest cog. Aimed at aggressive trail, enduro and downhill riders, the TR12 is a closed system: its shifter and derailleur are matched to each other and are not cross-compatible with SRAM or Shimano mechs.
