808 (pre-Firecrest)

This is the Zipp 808 as it stood before the arrival of the Firecrest rim profile in mid-November 2010. It used a fully toroidal 81 mm rim profile with third-generation ABLC dimples, laced to the 88 front and 188 rear hubs with 16 radial spokes at the front and 20 at the rear. The tubular version was built on the 520 g 420 rim and claimed at 1499 g for the pair, while the clincher used the 520 rim and was claimed at 1921 g with a maximum tyre pressure of 125 psi. Zipp positioned it mainly for time trial and triathlon, although it also won Tour de France stages with road sprinters.
