First generation of the 858 NSW, unveiled in October 2017: the deepest wheel in Zipp's NSW range, with an undulating 77/82 mm Sawtooth profile meant to behave like a deeper rim while staying manageable in crosswinds. The hooked carbon rim, 17 mm internal, stays tube-type and carries the Showstopper brake track, while the Cognition hubs use a magnetic clutch for 36 points of engagement and near-zero coasting drag. Zipp quotes 808 g front and 942 g rear, on straight-pull Sapim CX-Ray spokes with external nipples. A tubeless 18 mm internal version took over for model year 2020.
