The Chris King R45 is the classic rim-brake road hub from the Portland, Oregon manufacturer, named for the 45 points of engagement of its in-house RingDrive freehub. Instead of pawls, RingDrive uses two large helically-cut, spring-loaded steel rings whose teeth mesh fully inside the hub shell, giving instant high-torque engagement and the unmistakable loud King buzz on the freewheel. Machined from aluminium with Chris King'\''s own sealed stainless angular-contact bearings and a lifetime warranty, the R45 has stayed in production for riders who still prefer rim brakes. It runs 100mm front and 130mm rear quick-release spacing, drilled 28 or 32 hole, with Shimano/SRAM HG 11-speed road, SRAM XDR or Campagnolo driveshells. Sold as separate front and rear hubs.
