The successor to the X35 that came from the acquisition of Ebikemotion, the X20 is MAHLE's ultra-light rear hub system for e-road and gravel: around 3.2 kg for the whole package of motor (1.39 kg), 236 Wh internal battery and controller, making it one of the lightest systems on the market. The motor, hidden in the rear hub, delivers smooth, natural assistance that MAHLE says is equivalent to 55 Nm from a mid-drive motor (actual torque at the hub ~23 Nm). The 2025 firmware update adds 18% more torque, raises the peak to 275 W and brings UDH (SRAM) compatibility. Smart Assist mode adjusts the assistance according to route, heart rate and battery level via the MAHLE SmartBike app.
