The Cosmic Carbone Ultimate was Mavic's no-compromise flagship road wheelset, built around continuous unidirectional carbon-fibre spokes that run in a single piece from rim to rim through the hub (R2R technology), doing away with the traditional two-spoke-plus-nipple joint for exceptional lateral stiffness at very low weight. With a 100% woven carbon tubular rim, 20 carbon spokes per wheel and a claimed pair weight of about 1185 g, it stood at the very top of the range as a hand-finished, halo racing wheel and one of the earliest full-carbon-spoke production wheelsets.
