Mavic

Mavic is a French manufacturer of wheels and bicycle components based in Annecy. Founded in Lyon in 1889, it takes its name from Manufacture d'Articles Vélocipédiques Idoux et Chanel, after its founders Charles Idoux and Lucien Chanel. It produced an aluminium rim as early as 1934, introduced neutral technical support at road races in 1973 and developed the Zap and Mektronic electronic shifting systems in the 1990s; rims such as the MA40 and the Open Pro and wheelsets such as the Ksyrium, Cosmic and Crossmax are among its best-known products. After being owned by Salomon and then Amer Sports, the company was bought in 2020 by the French Bourrelier group.
