Crossmax

Brand: Mavic

Introduced in 1996 alongside the Helium road wheels, the Crossmax was the first true mountain-bike system wheel, its hubs, spokes and aluminium rim engineered together for low weight and precise handling, and it made its racing debut at the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games. Its defining legacy came in 1999, when Mavic partnered with Hutchinson and Michelin to launch UST (Universal System Tubeless) on the Crossmax rim, the first dedicated mountain-bike tubeless wheel. UST's airtight rim bed and square-bead tyres, running without inner tubes, set the tubeless standard the whole industry still builds on today.
