Pinion's Motor.Gearbox.Unit combines a brushless mid-drive motor and the company's sealed gearbox in a single bottom bracket housing, so that shifting happens within the unit itself rather than at the rear wheel. The E1.12 is the twelve-speed version with a 600 % gear range; a nine-speed E1.9 version with a 568 % range is also offered. Because the gearbox sits between the motor and the output, gears can be changed at a standstill and under load, and the drivetrain runs with a belt.
