Pinion

German manufacturer founded in 2008 in Denkendorf by Christoph Lermen and Michael Schmitz, two former automotive drivetrain engineers. Pinion pioneered the modern bicycle gearbox: a sealed multi-speed transmission mounted at the bottom bracket rather than in the rear hub, inspired by automotive spur-gear gearboxes. Centralizing the shifting mechanism and mass low and central improves handling and allows maintenance-free, weatherproof shifting even at standstill.
