X-FD

The X-FD is Sturmey-Archer's front hub with a 70 mm integrated drum brake, part of the X aluminium series introduced after production moved to Taiwan. It uses a cast A356 aluminium shell running on sealed cartridge bearings and is drilled for 36 spokes, making it a common choice for the front wheels of city, touring and tandem bikes where a weatherproof, low-maintenance brake is wanted. A matching drum-brake rear hub, the X-RD, shares the same brake unit.
